This method needs level 64 Archaeology, and the start is level 1.

Nothing is used up, so this costs no GP.

For excavating, each one counted here is one successful hit, at the XP the hotspot's page states. Hits that miss give a little XP too, which is not counted, so you will need fewer. The chronotes a restored artefact is worth are not counted either.

No XP boost is counted (no outfit, aura, bonus XP or portable), so with one you will need fewer.

No time is shown: how often a hit succeeds depends on your mattock, level and boosts, which this page does not count.

Cost: 0 gp (0.00 gp per XP)

From 0 XP (level 1) to 13,034,431 XP. Level 99 is 13,034,431 XP. The address of this page keeps the sum, so a link to it opens the same one.

Where these numbers come from

Every method, level, XP figure and recipe is the RuneScape Wiki's, read on 3 November 2026: the list is the Wiki's own Archaeology calculator's, and each method's numbers were checked against a second Wiki page (the hotspot's or the artefact's own page) before going in. Each method links to the page its numbers came from.

This page has excavating at each hotspot and restoring artefacts. The Wiki's Archaeology calculator also works in mattocks, outfits, porters and other boosts, which this page does not count.

7 of the Wiki's methods left out, because its pages disagree about them or do not state them

Showing one of these would mean picking which Wiki page to believe, or using a number no page states, so they are left out until the Wiki settles them.

Left out: Lunar wheel debris (successful hits), Arbour rubble (successful hits), Weaver's hut debris (successful hits), Shrine debris (successful hits), Cauldron debris (successful hits), Blood altar (excavation hotspot) (successful hits), Ninbaradari mural.

Prices are the Grand Exchange guide prices, as the RuneScape Wiki's exchange data gives them. The page keeps them for up to about seven hours, and every answer says the date of the prices it used. For options this page does not have, use the Wiki's Archaeology calculator.
