Consulting the Codex…
RS3 · Skills · Activities · Quests
The Codex is a free RuneScape 3 player lookup tool built for the RS3 community. Search any player by name to instantly see their skill levels, total XP, combat level, quest completion, and recent activity — all pulled live from Jagex's official RuneMetrics data.
Every level and XP total you see comes straight from Jagex's public RuneMetrics API — nothing is estimated or invented. The Codex does keep periodic snapshotsof those public stats, because that's the only way to calculate gains, charts and milestones: XP tracking, the drops log and notifications all work by re-checking searched players over time and comparing against what was recorded before. The more a player is looked up, the richer their history becomes. See the privacy policyfor exactly what's stored.
Some data — like clan membership — isn't available through any public RuneScape API, so The Codex relies on the community to confirm clan info for players, which is then saved and shown to everyone who looks that player up.
The same goes for which accounts belong to the same person: Jagex doesn't publish anything linking the characters under one login, and The Codex has no way to see it. That's why alt accounts are shown only where someone has claimed and verified each one themselves — a link you can see on the site is one the owner chose to put there, never a guess.
Built as a faster, more reliable alternative to existing RS3 lookup sites, with a focus on accuracy, clean design, and features that actually matter to players — virtual levels done right, true milestone tracking, and no clutter.
Type a RuneScape 3 username into the search bar on the homepage and press Enter. The Codex will pull the player's current skill levels, total XP, combat level, quest progress, and recent activity directly from Jagex's RuneMetrics API.
Yes, The Codex is completely free. No account or registration is required to look up any RS3 player.
Once a player is searched on The Codex, their stats are re-checked automatically at regular intervals — often within about 30 minutes — and one daily snapshot per account is kept for the long-term charts. Those snapshots build up over time, letting you see XP gained over the last 24 hours, the current week, and the current month — with a per-skill chart in the Analytics tab.
Yes. Ironman, Hardcore Ironman, and Group Ironman accounts are detected automatically and shown with the appropriate badge on the player's profile.
The Codex scans each player's RuneMetrics activity feed for notable item drops during every snapshot. Drops are grouped by boss and stored over time, building a personal drops log that persists across sessions.
Yes. Sign in with Discord and you can subscribe to get notified via a server webhook or directly via Discord DM when a tracked player levels up, gets a drop, or achieves a major milestone like the Max Cape or Quest Cape.
Sign in with Discord, open your player profile, and hit Claim this profile. To verify it's really yours, set your RuneMetrics profile to Private in your RuneScape account settings and hit check — only the account's real owner can change that setting, so flipping it proves ownership. Once you're verified, switch it back to Public so The Codex keeps tracking your XP. Verified profiles show a gold check next to their name across the site.
Yes. Verify more than one account under the same Discord login and they'll link together — each profile shows an 'Also plays as' row pointing at your other accounts. It's opt-in by design: linking only ever appears on accounts you've actually verified, so nobody can attribute an alt to you without proof. You can hide the whole thing at any time with the eye toggle on your profile, and your accounts stay linked privately for your own use.
The Max Cape is earned when a player reaches level 99 in all skills in RuneScape 3. The Master Max Cape additionally requires level 120 (true mastery) in all skills that have a true level cap above 99.
All skill levels, XP, activity, and quest data come directly from Jagex's official RuneMetrics public API. The Codex does not generate or fabricate any stats — it reads and presents live data from RuneMetrics.
Yes. The GE Price Checker shows the live Grand Exchange price, daily trade volume, and a 90-day trend for any RS3 item, sourced from the official guide price. High-value items where the guide price lags can also carry a community estimate — reported by players and shown once two people agree, or set instantly as a verified 'Codex price' by an admin. You can also check any item's price in Discord with the /price command.
Yes. The Codex bot adds slash commands to your server (or works in a DM): /lookup and /gains for a player's stats and weekly XP, /price for live GE prices, and /suggestprice to report an item's real trading price. It needs no setup or sign-in. Separately, you can also subscribe to Discord notifications for milestones, drops, and clan-wide alerts.
The Codex is built and run by one person, and it gets better because people send things in. Spotted a bug, some wrong data, or have an idea that'd make it better? Drop it below — it lands in a private inbox I actually read. Leaving a contact is optional, but handy if you'd like a reply.
